Hey!  You can click here to go to  "Just Talk"  any time of day (or night -- except I'm giving you all a bedtime of 10:00 -- tee-hee)  and you can chat with each other.  Write your messages in the comment boxes and post them.  Remember to keep it clean and appropriate and kind.

Here is a fantastic example of the whole assignment.

Another great student example

Important note:  No part of this assignment asks for just a summary of the story.  Don't just summarize, and don't include any spoilers (giving away the ending or another part that the reader shouldn't know until he or she gets to it while reading the book).

Your main purpose is to describe setting and character.  Use your charts for setting and character.  Use this letter format, and as you write it, delete the directions and replace the bracketed portions with the information you should fill in.

Letter

[Setting -- Place]

[A date from the time setting]

Dear  [Name of the person you're writing to],

[Tell the person you're writing to what it's like to be in the setting or your novel, and about one or more characters from the book.  Use your charts Include lots of detail.  Use your imagination to imagine yourself within the novel, but be true to the story as it is written.]

Your name (You may use a font that looks like handwriting.)

9.  Write a recommendation for the book.  How many stars would you give this book, ranging from one star as not so good, to five stars as the best?  Why?  Who would like this book?  Why?  Give us enough information to help us decide if we'd like to read the book.
